Giving Back to the Local Community
Admission to Ottawa Veg Fest is by cash donation … doante what you can. Proceeds go to support two local causes (see below). In 2016, we raised over $11,500 through our “admission by donation” model. These funds were divided between two worthy local organizations. Let’s see if we can break that record this year. Give generously.
One of the worthy causes is the Community Harvest Program of the Ottawa Food Bank. This amazing initiative grows, collects donations and buys nutritious, local produce for clients served by Ottawa Food Bank member agencies across the national capital region. In 2015 alone, the program brought in a record-breaking 176,500 lbs. of fresh produce, over 101,000 lbs. of which they grew themselves!. Truly remarkable! At Ottawa Veg Fest please give generously to support this worthy cause.
The other recipient of funds collected was the National Capital Vegetarian Association (NCVA) They are a not-for-profit membership-based organization created to educate the public about the health benefits of plant-based diets for the improvement of public health. The NCVA strives to represent people in the National Capital Region who are vegetarian, vegan, or supportive of the many benefits of consuming plants. They are the founders of Ottawa Veg Fest. Help support the NCVA.
